Maddie joined GBA in 2020 with a background in grant writing, nonprofit development, and organizational strategy, and quickly found a home in work that combines all three. As Director of Operations and a Senior Grant Writer, she balances a full caseload of grant writing clients with her leadership role at GBA, working closely with GBA Principals on staffing, workload management, internal processes, new client engagement, and the day-to-day needs of the team.

A social worker by training and a writer by nature, Maddie is drawn to work that requires both. She enjoys getting to know her clients deeply—their missions, communities, challenges, and points of pride—and finding the clearest, most compelling way to make the case for investing in their work. That same perspective carries into her role within GBA, where much of her focus is on making sure people feel heard, connected, and supported. Maddie also lends her grant writing expertise to GBA’s technical assistance and capacity-building work, helping design and deliver trainings on funder searches, needs assessments, sustainability planning, and other topics.

Maddie holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Georgia and a BA in English and Sociology/Anthropology from Denison University. She has a particular interest in projects that advance women’s mental health and support survivors of domestic violence.

Although she is a perpetual Atlantan at heart, Maddie now lives in St. Charles, Missouri, with her husband, Travis, and their dog, Maybelle. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, gardening, and spending as much time as possible outside with friends and family.
