GBA Helps Secure FY 2026 NAP Awards

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced $102 million in New Access Point (NAP) awards on August 13, 2026. These awards “represent the first major expansion of the Health Center Program since the first Trump Administration in 2019, supporting 158 new and existing health centers to establish 415 new sites and expand access to comprehensive primary care for nearly 1 million people nationwide.”

GBA is proud to have contributed to this historic expansion by having 14 of its 17-written applications funded across the country, including 12 of California’s 27 awardees.

A remarkable year for GBA and our health center partners

GBA prepared and submitted 17 full NAP applications on behalf of health center clients. Fourteen (14) were selected for funding, representing an 82.3% success rate. GBA also developed needs-section data for six (6) additional applications, three (3) of which received NAP funding. Altogether, these awards represent $11.05 million in first-year funding, including $1.3 million in special population funding to help serve vulnerable communities such as migrants and people experiencing homelessness.

At the national level, GBA prepared 8.8% of all funded FY 2026 NAP applications. When projects for which needs section development are included, GBA supported one in 10 (10.7%) of all 158 funded NAP projects nationwide.

An especially strong impact in California

California received 27 NAP awards—more than one-sixth of all awards nationwide. GBA fully prepared 12 of these applications and developed the needs sections for three (3) more. In total, GBA supported 15 of 27 funded projects, or 55.5% of the state’s awardees. Altogether, more than one-half of successful NAP projects in California benefited from GBA’s expertise. We are thrilled to see our health center partners receive the resources to open new sites, expand comprehensive primary care, and reach low-income residents in need.

Collaboration from opportunity to submission

Behind every successful FY2026 NAP application is a health center with a clear vision for meeting community needs. GBA helps translate that vision into a responsive, evidence-based, and competitive proposal. In addition to the 17 applications and six (6) needs sections that moved forward, GBA provided 27 additional consultations to health centers evaluating the FY2026 NAP opportunity—helping them to assess readiness, eligibility, competitiveness, and strategic fit before committing to the application process. These agencies concurred with GBA that based on the NAP objective point system, their applications would likely score below the fundable threshold.
